While Python, Java and C++ are greatly in demand, they’re tricky programming languages to start out with when you’re young. Our STEAM KID programme introduces young students to a simple form of coding that will form a strong foundation for their later studies.
Starting young in coding has been proven to bring about success. Learning the hallmarks of the software and developing the kind of logical thinking needed while the brain is still supple is highly likely to give students an advantage when they want to take on more challenging projects later on.
Using tiny handheld computers called Mircrobits, students will work on some exciting projects making robots, games and music players. They’ll be amazed what recognisable devices they can produce when shown by our passionate teachers.
Students will also be able to take away their very own Microbit and hopefully be inspired to keep practicing their coding at home.
Alongside coding, students will take part in workshops developing their knowledge and application of Maths, Science and Engineering. From data science to aerospace and nuclear physics to genetics, there are an incredible number of real-world opportunities for STEM. Our teachers have designed fun activities to introduce these links.
To complete STEAM, arts workshops intersperse our programme to help students become articulate and expressive. Though they’ll progress as coders, they’ll also grow into excellent communicators.
